Children's Chorus Seeking Conductor (SF) (sunset / parkside)
Beginning Levels: (Level I - PreK/K) (Level II - First/Second/Third Grades)
We are an SF-based children's chorus committed to promoting healthful and beautiful singing. We encourage all youth to express their creativity through song, dance, acting, and improvisation, within a safe and stimulating environment of musical camaraderie. As it is also is our goal to build and advance the musicianship of every young singer, music theory and musicianship studies are carefully interwoven into our weekly rehearsals, retreats, and workshops. We tour annually and hold performances in beautiful venues throughout the Bay area.
Job Description
● Plan and direct weekly rehearsals at one of our Outer Sunset locations: After-school program hours currently on Wednesdays (and ideally Tuesdays) with potential for more days and hours.
● Prepare choir for December and May recitals and concerts.
● Attend concerts and assist with all singers at Winter and Spring Concerts
● Be present and lead Demo classes at our Open Houses twice a year
● Help prepare audio mp3s with the current set of songs.
● In consultation with the Artistic Director select and distribute all music and materials for
choir.
● Communicate actively with the families by means of direct contact
before and after rehearsals and via email when necessary.
● Send bi-weekly updates by email to parents, and provide handouts to all students.
Curriculum and Pedagogy
● Create, develop and teach a consistent choral pedagogy curriculum firmly based on the Orff and
Kodaly method of child-developmental approach to sequencing in music learning. All
concepts are to be taught, reviewed, and reinforced through games, movement, songs,
and exercises.
● In every rehearsal, instill excellent musicianship and child appropriate singing skills, high
performance standards; establish the foundation for a life-long love of music.
● Every week teach musicianship and theory concepts in the course of the rehearsal.
Administration
● Work in partnership with Artistic Director and administrative staff to ensure
accurate rosters and attendance records
● For the concert productions produce a program: Provide all necessary information (song
titles, program order, program notes, soloists names etc.) for the printed program
according to the time table set.
Supervision
● Position supervised by the Artistic Director for artistically related items, and for administrative and operational items.
Application Process:
The salary is commensurate with experience and there is room for
growth with our organization. The role requires afternoon and early evening work and two

Qualifications
● Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Music, or Music Education (or in relevant field) and preferably at least two years of work experience similar to this position
● Strong vocal technique.
● Orff and Kodály training preferred
● Displaying a genuine LOVE for working with young children in a choral setting
