School Overview:
At San Francisco Day School, we believe that when intellect and imagination are intertwined, students delight in the discovery of connection in their academic and creative pursuits, in their relationships, and in all that they experience here. Because when we do, our students light up with the call and capacity to take on the complexities of their day and of a diverse world.

San Francisco Day School is an independent, co-educational school serving approximately 400 students in grades K-8. The school values the strengths and accomplishments of the individuals who are part of the community and takes pride in and celebrates the diversity and special character of the community as a whole. Music Program Overview:
Music is an important part of the fabric of SF Day school culture. Lower School students develop an understanding and appreciation of music by learning sequential concepts through active, hands-on participation. Students study many styles, cultures, and periods in music history, and are also encouraged to improvise and create their own music. In Lower School, students explore movement, singing, and many instruments such as: small percussion, drumming, barred instruments, recorder, etc.

Lessons are inspired by the approaches of Kodály and Orff Schulwerk, and aligned with the nine National Standards for Music Education. Teachers and students also provide joyful musical experiences and performances that bring the school community together.
